Judging Panel
The Judging Panel comprises representatives of relevant departments and professionals
Judging Criteria
The Judging Panel will evaluate entries submitted ("the Entries") based on the criteria below:
- Theme conveyance (35%)
- Creativity (25%)
- Overall composition (25%)
- Practicability (15%)
The Entries will be uploaded to the website for public voting. The three entries receiving the highest number of votes will be awarded the prize of "My Favourite Manhole Cover Design".
Submission
All entries must comply with the submission requirements and formats as stated below
Entry Requirement
- The Entries can be in the form of hand-drawn or computer-aided drawing
- All entries must conform to the theme of the competition, and all entries must be original. Art pieces generated by artificial intelligence will not be accepted.
- The entries must be designed according to the specifications provided by the organiser, including the basic appearance, dimensions, structure, anti-skid performance and location of key holes. An introduction to the design concept should be provided either in Chinese or English in no more than 100 words.
Design Specifications includes:
- The square manhole cover is formed by two triangle segments.
- The surface of the manhole cover must be embossed to enhance its slip resistance.
- There are two round slots on the cover serves as key holes allowing workers to insert special tools to pull up the covers.
- The actual size of the manhole cover is 675 mm x 675 mm.
- The submission of the entry must be in jpg or pdf format. The resolution should be at least 300dpi while the file size must be less than 10MB.
- Each participant may only submit one entry.
Entries without submission of the complete information may not be accepted by the Organiser.

Entries shall be submitted by 5:00pm on 23 January 2026
Fill in the Entry Form and submit the Entries.
Post the Entry Form and the Entry to the following address:

Please mark "'UnCover the Joy' Manhole Cover Design Competition" on the envelope. Late Entries will not be accepted. (Subject to the postmark date)

Terms and Conditions
- The Entries once submitted will not be allowed for editing, replacement or return.
- The Entries (including the picture, the name and description) are original work created by the Participants.
- The Entries should not contain criminal, violent, obscene, indecent, libel, defamatory, privacy invasive, threatening, objectionable, any controversial and inappropriate content, otherwise the organiser has the right to disqualify any entrant without prior notice.
- All Entries shall remain anonymous during the whole evaluation process. Names or marks with Participant's identity should not be shown on the Entries and descriptions. Participants shall not disclose, exhibit or publicise the submitted Entries in any form before announcement of the Competition results.
- By submitting an Entry for the Competition, participants are deemed to give an irrevocable perpetual license to the Organiser to use, edit, modify or copy the submitted Entry for any purposes, including but not limited to publish, print, exhibit, display, promote, issue or any other purposes as the Organiser considers appropriate, whether in Hong Kong or other places, in public and/or by means of publication and printings, web pages, electronics and other means, without prior consent of the participants or payment any royalty / remuneration to the participants.
- The entries together with the title and the synopsis, will be uploaded to website for public viewing and voting.
- Any participant who does not abide by the rules, requirements or conditions as set out in the Competition may result in disqualification. The decisions of the Organiser shall be final and binding on all parties concerned and shall not be disputed or appealed.
- All winners are required to provide valid identity documents for verification purposes.
- Entrants are to abide by the organiser's decision, which shall be final, on all matters relating to the Competitions. This includes the right to interrupt, amend, cancel or suspend the terms and conditions, prizes and other arrangements of the Competition without prior notice.
